As part of their "right sizing" plan, APS voted to close La Luz Elementary, forcing the district to consolidate pre-kindergarten students at Duranes. With a focus on providing childcare and preparing younger students for school, APS plans to absorb students from several schools into Duranes. The new facility, projected to host approximately 100 students in its first year, will have seven classrooms.
